Kingsland Elementary School marked a significant milestone on Thursday, September 5, with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of its first full-scale renovation since the school originally opened its doors in 1992.
The original building, encompassing 71,715 square feet and housing 35 instructional spaces, has undergone extensive updates to enhance the learning environment for students and staff. The renovation project, which began at the end of May 2024 and concluded just in time for the new school year in early August 2024, boasts a variety of critical improvements.
Key updates include:
Replacement of all flat roofs
Installation of a new HVAC system throughout the building
New LVT tile in hallways
Fresh paint on all interior walls
Replacement of worn-out windows
Complete renovation of all bathrooms, including new floors, urinals, toilets, and sinks
Replacement of old copper pipes with durable PVC pipes
New kitchen floor, along with new freezer and cooler
Installation of all new ceilings inside the building
Addition of a new security enclosure in the front office
Replacement of car and bus port canopy tops
Installation of Energy Recovery Units in all three wings to bring in fresh, conditioned air while expelling old air from every classroom
New cabinetry and countertops in every space
Installation of new water fountains, including bottle fillers with tiled backsplashes
The renovations were designed to create a more modern, efficient, and pleasant environment for both students and staff. The new HVAC system and Energy Recovery Units are particularly noteworthy, as they ensure that fresh air is consistently circulated throughout the building, promoting a healthier atmosphere for learning.
The celebration was attended by school officials, staff, and community members, all of whom expressed their excitement and appreciation for the comprehensive upgrades. The newly renovated Kingsland Elementary School now stands ready to provide an improved educational experience for its current and future students.
