🌟 Friday Fun in Mrs. Renshaw's Room at Sugarmill Elementary School! 🌟 Last week in the new HMH curriculum, first grade focused on friendship. The story, “A Kid’s Guide to Friends,” taught them all about how to make friends and be a good friend to others. To celebrate what they learned, they had a Fun Food Friday and made a special Friendship Fruit Salad! Each ingredient represented their wonderful classroom — kind friends, hardworking students, and kids who use kind words and hands. 🥳 They also talked about how they only want positive attitudes in their classroom. They had a juicy apple that looked good on the outside, but when they cut it open, it was rotten inside. The students decided they didn’t want to add a “bad apple” to their friendship salad. This sparked a great discussion about how they all want to be kind, positive, and supportive — just like their fruit salad! 🍎🍊🍇 #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #SESEagles #FriendshipFruitSalad

🌧️🌎 Mary Lee Clark Elementary School teacher, Ms. Tillman, and her 5th graders are turning into young geologists! This week, they dove into the fascinating world of weathering, erosion, and deposition. They observed how water erosion affects sand, potting soil, and dirt mixed with grass and rocks. The students made thoughtful predictions about which materials would experience the most or least erosion and weathering. Through lively discussions and hands-on experiments, they saw firsthand how each material eroded differently. Experiencing these destructive processes up close helped them understand the impact of rainstorms on our Earth. Way to go, future scientists! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #MLCESMarlins #STEM

🌋📚 Exciting Afternoon in Mrs. Andrews’ Kindergarten Class! 📚🌋 Last Friday, Kingsland Elementary School's curious Kindergarten boys and girls delved into the importance of self-control in communication through the engaging book "My Mouth is a Volcano!" 🌟 They eagerly brainstormed and listed ways to keep their "volcanoes" from erupting on Mrs. Andrews' anchor chart. 📝 But the fun didn't stop there! Mrs. Andrews brought the lesson to life with an interactive volcano experiment using baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring! The students were thrilled to see the fizzy eruption, making a perfect connection to the story's theme of self-control. 🧪🌈 Learning has never been this fun and meaningful! 🌋💬 #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #STEMeducation

Mary Lee Clark Elementary Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Cabutto, recently conducted a hands-on science activity involving planning and carrying out an investigation to predict and observe whether objects, based on their physical attributes, would sink or float. Mrs. Cabutto's little scientists were eager to make their predictions and then observe what happened to those items when place in the water. 💚✨💙 #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #MLCESMarlins

Each year, the National FFA Organization honors FFA members who show the utmost dedication to the organization through their desire to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication with less than 1% of all members of FFA achieving this goal. Congratulations to our own from Camden County High School, Rylee Flanagan, for earning the American degree! #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #CamdenCountyFFA

Crooked River Elementary School teacher, Mrs. Gano, and her second grade class recently completed a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) project called "Save Fred." In this cooperative activity the students worked in pairs to save a helpless gummy worm named Fred who managed to capsize his boat and lose his life preserver. They had only 4 paper clips and could not use their hands to touch Fred, the boat, or his life preserver. The children loved using critical thinking skills to save Fred! #BElieveinCAMDEN #WeAreCamden #STEM

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰: School buses are the most regulated vehicles on the road. They’re designed to be safer than passenger vehicles in preventing crashes and injuries, and in every state, stop-arm laws exist to protect children from other motorists. If you are driving, remember these simple rules: – 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 — don’t speed up — because the bus is preparing to stop. There are - likely students waiting to get on the bus or parents waiting nearby to pick up children. – 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 — and wait at least 20 feet behind the bus — because children are getting on or off the school bus. Stay stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving. – 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, particularly in the morning or mid-afternoon, around school arrival and dismissal times. Be alert as you back out of a driveway, or drive through a neighborhood, school zone or bus stop. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧: Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Teach them to play it SAFE: – 𝐒tay five steps away from the curb. – 𝐀lways wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the bus driver signals for you to board. – 𝐅ace forward after finding a seat on the bus. – 𝐄xit the bus after it stops and look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street.
