In this engaging classroom activity, students use a flashlight to represent the Sun and a Styrofoam ball as the moon. By rotating the ball around their heads, they can see how the light changes on the ball's surface, mimicking the phases of the moon. This interactive approach helps our students visualize and understand how the moon's position relative to Earth and the Sun creates the different phases we see from Earth. 🌟 Exciting News from Mamie Lou Gross Elementary School! 🌟 Students at Mamie Lou Gross have the opportunity to participate in STEM class as one of their specials this year! STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In this class, students collaborate to solve problems, think critically to find solutions, and use their creativity to develop new items. We are thrilled to announce that Mamie Lou Gross has partnered with DoD STEM FIRST to provide LEGO kits for our students to use in STEM class. These kits offer students the freedom to free build and also introduce them to coding and LEGO robotics. Last week, MLG’s talented 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders created intricate LEGO mazes in STEM class, complete with challenging obstacles.
